    My Beauty Bookshelf

I got myself a bookshelf…although it probably won’t be holding any books any time soon.

I picked this up from Target on a whim. I was just passing by and it caught my eye…mainly because there was a giant red towel that was misplaced on the shelf below it, but still. I thought it was pretty, and the dimensions were a perfect fit for my awkward little bedroom space.

    P1253175

It was $69.99, but I had a little gift card, so it was worth it. All of these pictures were taken with my iPhone…my camera charger is in the suitcase that I have still yet to unpack.P1253177

Assembly was quick and easy, the directions were easy to follow, well written, and clear; and everything was packaged well with very little waste…which is always a plus.

My Mr. 7 hands is MIA, so I just used my pocket knife, and drill/driver…it’s faster that way anyhow.

All of the pieces were labeled with little alphabet stickers, which were all easy to remove.

The little pieces were all compartmentalized according to which step they were to be used for, which I thought was a really good idea.

And in less than 30 minutes, I had it all together. The bookshelf is very light weight. Not in a way that feels cheap and easy to break, but it isn’t heavy. I think it’ll knick easily, but overall I am pleased with the purchase.

One thing I’ve learned from assembling this, and other pieces, is to take note of the way that it’s put together. Furniture building is a lot like assembling 3D puzzles. This one had pocket screw left unfilled, which was fine for me because once it’s together, you can’t see them.

The size was just right for me. I have about an inch on both sides.

And it holds all of my makeup. The issue I was having with my X-leg desk is that everything would sit on top and be exposed, which isn’t quite what I wanted. With this, everything is still visible, but not from all angles.

At the moment, things are just tossed on there a little less than haphazardly, but eventually I will get around to making it look pretty.

If you’re on the hunt for an inexpensive medium sized short bookshelf, I’d say give this one a look. If not, well…thanks for looking at mine!

    Black Friday Goodness

I managed to score some major Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals…I didn’t actually go to any stores, but the online deals were pretty good. I got all of my Christmas shopping done. I also snagged a few goodies for my house.

I’ve been trying to get things in order for my holiday visitors, so room by room I’ve been trying to check things off my to-do lists.

I’ve started to address my bedroom issues, and today, I begin with the space beside my massive dresser.

I managed to grab a little table from Target that was originally over $60, but was reduced to $34, and then I had 20% off and a gift card. It isn’t on the website anymore, but it’s a cute, sturdy little side table.

I also got a slipper chair. Originally priced $179.99 and reduced to $129.99, and  I had 20% off. It’s still available as of today, and is still listed at the reduced price.

It came in 2 parts in 2 boxes.

All of the pieces come attached to the bottom of the seat of the chair that is hidden behind a cover (attached by Velcro along the sides.)

Assembly was quick and easy. Well for the legs anyway. I ended up having to use my own self tapping screws to attach the back of the chair to the seat because the holes weren’t aligned properly, and I didn’t feel like drilling new ones.

It’s a sturdy little chair and I love the print. It reminds me of a modern toile. I was expecting it to be white, but it’s more of a cream color…but it’s fine.

I also got a great deal on window panels from West Elm. They were more grey than I was expecting, but the actually compliment my comforter better than I had hoped.

I’m beginning to like the way my room is looking. Eventually I’ll choose paint colors for the house, but that’ll be last. Paint is powerful and I want to make sure I get it right.

I want to add shelves and artwork above the chair…but that isn’t at the top of my to-do list in this room. I still need a vanity and a bedside table.

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

    Lack Table Lookalike?

Yesterday I went to Target to get paper towels, and left with an over flowing shopping cart full of stuff that I wanted needed.

I’ve been debating bedside tables for my super hero’s bedroom, and decided to look around the furniture section at Target to see if they had anything affordable that would fill the space.

I was about to leave when I came across this little table. It was only $15!

    P9071772

So I tossed it into my already loaded chopping cart.

    P9071773

It came wrapped in plastic and the legs come with screws attached.

    P9071774

So like the sticker on the front says, “no tools needed!”

    P9071776

It really isn’t a complicated assembly project, so it was up and in use in under 5 minutes.

    P9071780

It has a max load capacity of 48 pounds according to the directions, which I personally don’t believe. It’s very light, and although it is sturdy, I’d be nervous if my little one (at 36 pounds) decided to stand on it for too long.

    P9071782

Overall, for 15 dollars, it is pretty much what I expected it to be. There are a few spots where the faux wood strips are already starting to peel back, and I’m not sure if that’s because I wasn’t careful about the one that I chose, but regardless, I don’t expect this to last long. Maybe a year or 2, and that isn’t bed for the price. For the moment though, it does what I need it to do, and it’s kinda cute.

That’s all for now. Talk to you in the next one!
