    My Beauty Bookshelf

I got myself a bookshelf…although it probably won’t be holding any books any time soon.

I picked this up from Target on a whim. I was just passing by and it caught my eye…mainly because there was a giant red towel that was misplaced on the shelf below it, but still. I thought it was pretty, and the dimensions were a perfect fit for my awkward little bedroom space.

It was $69.99, but I had a little gift card, so it was worth it. All of these pictures were taken with my iPhone…my camera charger is in the suitcase that I have still yet to unpack.P1253177

Assembly was quick and easy, the directions were easy to follow, well written, and clear; and everything was packaged well with very little waste…which is always a plus.

My Mr. 7 hands is MIA, so I just used my pocket knife, and drill/driver…it’s faster that way anyhow.

All of the pieces were labeled with little alphabet stickers, which were all easy to remove.

The little pieces were all compartmentalized according to which step they were to be used for, which I thought was a really good idea.

And in less than 30 minutes, I had it all together. The bookshelf is very light weight. Not in a way that feels cheap and easy to break, but it isn’t heavy. I think it’ll knick easily, but overall I am pleased with the purchase.

One thing I’ve learned from assembling this, and other pieces, is to take note of the way that it’s put together. Furniture building is a lot like assembling 3D puzzles. This one had pocket screw left unfilled, which was fine for me because once it’s together, you can’t see them.

The size was just right for me. I have about an inch on both sides.

And it holds all of my makeup. The issue I was having with my X-leg desk is that everything would sit on top and be exposed, which isn’t quite what I wanted. With this, everything is still visible, but not from all angles.

At the moment, things are just tossed on there a little less than haphazardly, but eventually I will get around to making it look pretty.

If you’re on the hunt for an inexpensive medium sized short bookshelf, I’d say give this one a look. If not, well…thanks for looking at mine!

    Little Closet of Horrors

First, I want to start by saying that I am not a messy person. Chaos, clutter and disorganization drive me crazy. I like order, and the ability to locate things when I want them.

However, my current closet situation doesn’t do a great job of accommodating all of my things efficiently. Actually, not many things in this house do yet…

I warn you, what lies behind this narrow door may frighten you.

And even when I manage to get it looking like this (minus the boxes of Christmas gifts that have to remain out of sight and out of reach):

it doesn’t stay that way for long. Not because it’s stuffed, almost to capacity, but because I have to move things in order to get to other things, and I don’t always have time to put things back once I’ve reached whatever I was trying to get in the first place.

Plus, I’m short. It’s impossible for me to reach things above the highest clothes rack without a step ladder…and whenever I pull out the ladder, I’m joined by a small child who needs to climb the “mountain” at that very moment.

I really need a professional better solution. I’m adding new closet organization to my Christmas List. Yup.

    That is all.

    My Scary Bathroom

Sigh...In an effort to keep the momentum for October organizing going, I’ve decided to tackle my bathroom. On a normal day,  it looks like this:

Everything I use up on the counter, and all over the place…which again confirms the fact that I need a vanity. (I’ll stop whining)

But even the drawers were a mess. I’ll only show you one…anymore than that might embarrass me.

But with a little bit of cleaning,

    sorting,

tossing out old products, and some organizing,

I managed to improve the state of my bathroom.

My skincare basket is still a bit messy, but with regular use, I think it’s inevitable.

For now though, the cleaning shall continue.

    Next up, my closet.

    DUN DUN DUUUUN!

But we’ll save that for another day.

    Until then, fare well!
