The Effects of Spray Paint Make Me Smile

And no, it isn't because of the scent.

A while back, I bought a cheap mirror from Ross. I also got 2 picture frames, both were $7, originally priced at $14 or so.

One was pink, and the other was black. I hated the color of the pink one but bought it anyway because I liked the shapes on it better than the black. When shopping for home goods, one thing I’ve learned is that color can always be altered, hence today’s project.

The weather here has been a little too cool to paint outdoors, even when it isn’t raining, but I caught a good day and took advantage.

I used my spray paint adaptor which keeps my hands free of the paint, but I forgot to add it to the shot.

This was the quickest paint project I’ve ever done. From the initial shaking of the paint can, through the end, it took under 10 minutes to finish both sides.

These are wooden frames, but I’ve found that using the plastic paint only makes them glossier…which is what I wanted. (Plus it was the only black I had on hand.)

I like it better in black. What do you think?

    Picture Perfect Frame Experiment

I had some extra spray paint leftover from my chair project, so I decided to see if how well it would work for my goodwill picture frames.

The two large darker frames were the only ones made of wood, and those were the two that I was most concerned about. The other ones were plastic. As it turned out though, the plastic spray paint worked fine on all of the frames.

I have a little, empty hallway that I wanted to decorate with frames so I played with a few different configurations until I found one I liked.

I thought about removing the backs and hanging the empty frames for a look like this one from décor pad, because it is pretty,

but I don’t think it would be as impactful or personal as I would like. So, I dashed off to my computer (and yes, I dashed) to play with some fonts and fun sayings and chopped em’ up with my paper cutter.

For now, these will just be placeholders until I carve out a bit of time to make something pretty, and cut a few mats.

Maybe I’ll turn a few into mirrors…or chalkboards…or play with typography and have them properly printed…

for now however, these take up the space, and I am content.

And excuse the strangeness going on on the tiny window in the background…the windows are tiny, and I don’t know what to do with them at the moment.

    Goodbye until next time!

    a little Mammut Makeover…

The resident super hero and I have a couple of Mammut chairs. They’re nice and sturdy plastic things that are easy to wipe down and keep clean. One is red.

    The other, green.

But neither color is quite right for Matt’s new bedroom scheme. I like the shape of these chairs and the durability, so rather than replace them, I just decided to just paint them.

    I took this

and turned red and green into black. (That isn’t a scowl btw, that’s his serious face of supreme approval.)

I only primed the red one, as I wanted to see whether or not it made any difference over the long run, so as time goes on, we shall see how the paint holds up.

Overall, I’m pleased. They are quite a bit shiner than I expected, but hopefully it’ll become more matte as the paint completely dries.

That’s all for now, so goodbye until next time.
