Spring Cleaning With Elle V, a Super Hero, & Zoey

Every few months or so, I go through my sons clothes, and pull out everything he's outgrown or destroyed. Its get sorted into 3 piles. One for things that will be tossed, one for donations, and another for things that I love and want to hoard save. I am not hoarder. In fact, sometimes I purge to the point of regret. But that occurrence is rare, as things can be replaced, and honestly, how much stuff do ya’ really need anyway?

I’ve been trying to devise a plan to contain all of his stuff, and I’ve decided on a custom toy shelf thing for his closet, since our current set up isn’t very functional.

I’ve heard that the first step in fixing a problem, is acknowledging that one exists. So I poured everything out to see what kind of problem we were dealing with.

    Then everything was sorted.

Then we bagged everything he’d either outgrown or wouldn’t miss for donation.

I thought he could part with a few more things, but boys need their toys…so I’m off to finalize plans to house them all.

See you in the next one!

    a little Mammut Makeover…

The resident super hero and I have a couple of Mammut chairs. They’re nice and sturdy plastic things that are easy to wipe down and keep clean. One is red.

    The other, green.

But neither color is quite right for Matt’s new bedroom scheme. I like the shape of these chairs and the durability, so rather than replace them, I just decided to just paint them.

    I took this

and turned red and green into black. (That isn’t a scowl btw, that’s his serious face of supreme approval.)

I only primed the red one, as I wanted to see whether or not it made any difference over the long run, so as time goes on, we shall see how the paint holds up.

Overall, I’m pleased. They are quite a bit shiner than I expected, but hopefully it’ll become more matte as the paint completely dries.

That’s all for now, so goodbye until next time.

    the Boy’s Room: Take 2.

I fell in love with this fabric the first time I saw it. With its grey tones, soft blues, crisp greens, and muted browns. I knew I had to use it somewhere in my new home, but where, I just couldn't decide.

Initially I wanted to use it on my dining room chairs

but the pattern isn't neutral enough for me to commit to on such a large scale. It really limits what I’d be able to do in the living room, and impacts the color scheme for the majority of my home because it’s so open. Plus, I’m scared of upholstered chairs in the dining room. My little boy is mess.

And I didn’t want to use it in my bedroom, because I’d prefer to have something more feminine in there. So, since my little super hero’s favorite color is green, and wants it to be incorporated in his black and grey bedroom; I could use if for his headboard hack. I think I'll like it better there anyway.

I like that it’s masculine without being obvious and expected. Since his room is already furnished, all I really have to do is a bit of painting. I’ve decided to go with Mythic paint.

Foggy Coast for the bookshelf, and the parts of the bed that aren’t covered with fabric, Barefoot Grass on the walls, and Seaside Reflections on the toy boxes I’m building.

With the black accents already in place, I think it’ll be nice. What do you think?

Well hope you enjoy the rest of your day! Talk to you in the next one.
