    A Box from Mythic Paint

I placed an order online for the paint I would need to spruce up the super hero’s bedroom from Mythic about a week ago, and today, it arrived.

It was a pretty big box for such a small amount of product…but it was full of packing peanuts and cardboard.

Everything was securely packaged though, and arrived in perfect condition.

I ended up ordering 3 colors. 1 quart of the grey, one quart of the blue, and a sample size of the green. I didn’t feel the need to purchase a whole gallon of any color because I don’t plan on painting tons and tons of furniture.

I intended to recycle the packing peanuts, but…

he got to them before I could move them, and they were smashed and broken within minutes, so I just swept them up, and threw them away. If I can find a retailer close to me, I’ll go that route next time. Less waste. Anyhow, I’m excited to see how these apply.

That review will be coming up soon.

    Until next time,

    The Coolest Workbench Ever!

Today, my Skil 3115 X-Bench Workbench arrived. I ordered it from Lowes. The box was totally ripped up and battered, but all of the pieces were there,

so I wasn’t too annoyed. But then, it just got worse from there. Assembly was a pain…and that’s putting it lightly. The directions were pretty clear, no words, but the pictures were

straightforward. So, why such a pain you wonder? Well, not everything fit together properly without a bit of extra work. And by that, I mean, a few holes were misaligned and needed to be re-drilled. And even at this point, I still wasn’t too annoyed, because power tools are fun. So I stuck with it, and eventually, I got it assembled.

The biggest problem for me was the fact that the left side was completely bent and twisted and took about half an hour of twisting and prying and pulling to get the opening wide enough to attach the legs to the base.

Its still bent, but its secure. I could have returned it, or exchanged it, but I really hate going through the process of taking things back. I’d much rather figure out a way to make things work. Besides, the box was pretty much destroyed, and I wasn’t about to haul all of this stull with a 3 year old to big blue and back.

Now, I have to say, I really do like it. It’s small, lightweight, but sturdy and the clamps are very handy. They’re so strong, and the main reason why I wanted this particular workbench. I use it with a pair of sawhorses, and for me, it really is thee best work bench EVER! HA!

Now I have to go find some cool things to make…

Until next time, you enjoy the rest of your day!

    Masterful Paint Fail

Today I learned how NOT to paint laminate furniture. I decided to prime the bookshelf in my super hero’s room in preparation for my Mythic Paint order to arrive. So, this is what I did.

    Step 1

    P5311364

Remove all dirt, dust, and debris from furniture.

    Step 2

    Step 3

    Wait for paint to dry.

You should get something that looks like this:

Lessons Learned: Sand before painting, and use an oil based primer, because trying to cut corners makes your paint peel.
