    A Week of Planning

I have an empty corner in my bedroom right beside my dresser that needs…something. I haven’t quite figured out what, exactly, but I’ve been trying desperately to figure it out.

Initially I thought I wanted an armoire there, but my dresser is massive.

To add something else massive will just make the room look and feel smaller and overstuffed. I thought perhaps a pretty upholstered armchair, and a side table would occupy the space nicely, or even a bookshelf on the adjacent wall beside the giant window…but who knows.

I love Serena and Lily. I mean I’ve never actually purchased anything from there, but still. They have very beautiful pictures, and amazing looking fabrics. I’m not usually crazy about the furniture they sell, but, I saw the Hayworth Shelf, and nearly jumped for joy.image

But then I saw the price, and at almost $1300, not including tax or shipping, the joy was replaced with a raised brow, and the side eye…

Then I found a similar one at Home Decorators, for about $400, again before tax or shipping, and I was seriously considering it,

But my dresser is so big. And my bed is also very big. To add another tall piece like that would only compete and look ridiculous. I even tried out a bookshelf in the space just to be sure. MAJOR FAIL. Case in point: the recent traveling bookcase.

I think a simple chair and small side table would be more fitting. Now it’s just a matter of finding one I love that won’t break the bank.

    Tales of a Traveling Bookcase

Mr. Lack-a-like has been busy over the course of this month. He and I had been having a bit of a difficult time trying to determine where he would live. So over the past few weeks, he’s traveled to various parts of the house in an effort to find his semi-permanent home.

I think the issue began when I pushed my experiment up next to him…

In my defense though, as handsome as I think he is, the wall looked a little naked with him sitting there all by himself.

At any rate, his travelling began. His first stop was my bedroom. I had an empty corner that was unoccupied, so I let him stay there. But after the third day, he had to go.

And since my bedside table is being used in my bedroom, I let Mr. Lack-a-like try his hand at holding down the entryway.

But he was much too tall and skinny to do the job to my liking,

so his wandering continued. We were giving up hope, and were on our way back to where we started when he suggested the empty wall in the kitchen.

It wasn’t the worst stop on his journey, but I have other plans for that particular spot.

In the end, we found a home for poor Mr. Lack-a-like,

    right in between my desk,

and the Kivik (which is about due for a new cover).

In the end, both I and Mr. Lack-a-like were pleased with his new home.

And that is all for now. Talk to you in the next one!

    Nauseous and Inspired, I am

Being sick sucks. I’ve been sick for over a week now, and even though I feel a tiny bit better, I still feel awful. I haven’t really been able to do much of anything…eating included…and I love to eat.

This morning I woke up in my not so pretty bedroom, and managed to muster up enough strength to do a bit of surfing…online of course.

One of my first stops when looking for decorative inspiration is usually Decor Pad. They have such pretty pictures...

I have to say though, aside from a bit of nausea, I feel incredibly inspired. These are some of my favorite finds of the day:

I have a ton of ideas for things to build, ways to arrange things, and thoughts on color palettes. Maybe I’ll be able to pull together a mood board this week and feel good enough by the weekend to get some things done.

    Pray for me.
